The Chevrolet Silverado is one of the top-selling trucks on the market, and the recent redesign gave it stronger appeal for those in search of refinement and features in a personal truck, without alienating those who use their trucks as a tool for work.

Ford has a new F-150 for 2015, made with lightweight aluminum and featuring a slate of new or upgraded engine options.

The Ram 1500 boasts coil-spring rear suspension as well as optional air suspension for ride comfort and ease of loading, as well as the widest rollout of efficient eight-speed transmissions and the only diesel engine available on a light-duty pickup.

The Nissan Titan is aimed almost entirely at the personal-truck crowd—the types who are going to tow a boat on the weekend or occasionally make a trip to the home center—but its interior is woefully out of and an older, less-powerful engine returns poor fuel economy.

Toyota's Tundra was updated for 2014 , carrying over a strong if aging powertrain set and interior styling that's not for everyone in style or utility.

The GMC Sierra remains very closely related to the Silverado, sharing its structure, powertrain lineup, and the few updated items for 2015.

The 2015 Ford F-150 delivers on the promise of better utility through light weight; fuel economy is still left undecided.
The 2015 Nissan Titan is an excellent performer, but lacks much of the segment's advanced technology at this point in the game.
The 2015 Toyota Tundra looks interesting enough, but lacks the sophisticated drivetrains that you'll find in its competitors.
