2023 Cadillac Lyriq vs. Its Competition

The Cadillac Lyriq bridges the first wave of electric SUVs with so many more planned for 2022 and beyond.

The Mercedes EQB, BMW iX, Rivian R1S, Genesis GV60, Nissan Ariya, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6 are just a few of the multitude coming soon, including GM’s SUV version of the loaded GMC Hummer electric pickup truck due next year.

Like the Hummer, Ford applied a winning badge to its first electric SUV in the Mustang Mach-E, which puts value before luxury.

Tesla beat everyone to the punch with the Model X three-row crossover SUV based on the Model S, but its complex falcon-wing doors and other initial production problems limited its takeoff.

Jaguar came next with the sleek I-Pace, but its big 90-kwh battery pack only has a 234-mile range.

The Audi E-Tron five-seat SUV launched the electric sub-brand, and appeals by looking indiscernible from other gas-powered luxury SUVs.
