2017 Buick Envision vs. Its Competition

2017 Buick Envision

It's hard to call Buick a true luxury brand since it occupies something of a middle ground between mainstream and high-end.

Still, it's priced not far off of traditional luxury rivals like the Audi Q5 and Lexus RX 350, both of which are compelling choices that have long wooed buyers.

The Acura RDX seems like the Envision's most natural rival, and although it's beginning to age, the smallest Acura crossover offers a terrific value.

The Lincoln MKC is a surprisingly good effort for a brand that has struggled to gain traction.

And then there's the Nissan Murano, a likable, high-value crossover that goes after the same kind of buyer as the Envision.

Quick Specs
6.3
Forget about its Chinese roots; the Envision is a comfortable, well-appointed crossover. But it's also expensive, and there are some interior compromises.
7.2
The 2017 Acura RDX is one of the smoothest, most responsive-driving compact crossover SUVs—even though it prioritizes practicality.
7.0
The 2017 Audi Q5 soldiers on with good space and carlike handling; it's still one of the better luxury SUVs, despite its age.
7.3
As a style-conscious statement of indulgence, the Lexus RX shines like never before. Its looks are polarizing and it's not all that fun to drive even in F Sport form, but the RX continues to excel in many ways.
6.7
The 2017 MKC is a step in the right direction for Lincoln, thanks to controlled handling and interior luxury, but it lacks rear seat space and the cachet of its luxury rivals.
6.3
The 2017 Nissan Murano is smooth and polished—and that may be just the ticket for buyers who want a high seating position and the availability of all-wheel drive.
