2016 BMW X6 vs. Its Competition

2015 BMW X6 with BMW M Performance upgrades
Martin Padgett Martin Padgett Editorial Director

Is there anything—other than styling—that the X6 can do better than its more conventional rivals? The BMW X5 may be the best argument against the X6, as it offers the same core performance, luxury, and technology in a more useful form factor, though it's certainly no match for the X6's design-driven sheet metal.

The Land Rover Range Rover Sport may be the X6's closest rival, but the British sport-SUV has a reputation for go-anywhere off-road ability and interior refinement that tops even the BMW.

Infiniti's QX70 is sleek and modern, and while its six-cylinder versions pack even more power, the V-8 QX70 can't match the X6 xDrive50i's brawn, and the Infiniti doesn't offer as much high-end technology.

The Porsche Cayenne offers even more impressive performance and handling, though as with the X6, the styling isn't for everyone.
