2015 BMW 6-Series vs. Its Competition

With such a broad range of body styles and engine lines, the 2015 BMW 6-Series competes with an equally broad array of rivals.

The Gran Coupe might be considered a natural alternative to the Audi A7 or Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class, both of which offer similar luxury, performance, and style, albeit with a different feel.

The 6-Series coupe brings the Porsche 911, Jaguar XK, and Maserati GranTurismo to the competitive set.

While the Bimmer isn’t as serious a performance car as the 911, or as exotic as the Maserati, it certainly deserves to be mentioned in the same breath.

Mercedes-Benz’s SL-Class is the natural competition for the 6-Series convertible, as both offer tremendous panache in an open-top package.

The SL-Class does offer some advanced technology not available on the 6-Series, but the BMW is a bit sportier.

In all, the 6-Series manages a masterful balance between driver’s car and comfortable cruiser than could see it taking the place of any of these cars for the right buyer.

Quick Specs
Whether chosen as a coupe, convertible, or four-door Gran Coupe, the 2015 BMW 6-Series offers dynamic driving and massive style.
The A7 is handsome no matter how you slice it, but it's the brawn S7 and brutish RS7 that really gets our blood flowing.
While the glorious new F-type sports car might have stolen some of the limelight, the 2015 Jaguar XK lineup remains one of the most gorgeous and desirable grand-touring cars on the market.
The 2015 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class is sportier than its predecessor, but still manages to coddle its occupants just as before.
The 2015 Porsche 911 is an enthusiast's dream, with excellent handling, comfort, and performance at every step through its range.
The Maserati GranTurismo looks equally good with a fixed or convertible roof and offers a Ferrari-built V-8 for those who want similar power in a different Italian wrapper.
