2017 BMW 5-Series vs. Its Competition

2017 BMW 5-Series
Aaron Cole Aaron Cole Managing Editor

The 2017 BMW 5-Series most often competes with the Mercedes-Benz E Class and it's a fair comparison.

Both cars have mid-size proportions with full-size budgets that can crest more than $80,000, but Mercedes' approach is more outwardly tech, while BMW prefers a more holistic approach.

The 5-Series is more fun to drive, but the Benz brings a bevy of screens and creature comforts too.

The Volvo S90 is also a new entry into the segment, and we like the Volvo's safety—but we like its price better.

The Lexus GS is outgunned in this contest—for now.

We expect that to get an upgrade soon.

And the Jaguar XF looks like the jazz, but doesn't have the finite details down quite yet.
