2017 Audi R8 vs. Its Competition

2017 Audi R8, Asheville to Daytona part III
Kirk Bell Kirk Bell Senior Editor

By dropping the base V-8 models, Audi moves the R8 upmarket, at least at the start of the model year.

That leaves it in competition with some high-end cars.

Among that group, the McLaren 650S makes similar power and has been touted for its livable road manners, though the price is considerably higher.

The Porsche 911 Turbo is another car that offers power and everyday drivability.

The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT doesn't make quite as much power, but offers similar road manners as well.

The Corvette Z06 meets or beats the R8's power and track prowess, but isn't as refined, especially on the inside.
