2014 Audi Q5 vs. Its Competition

2014 Audi Q5
Martin Padgett Martin Padgett Editorial Director

The Audi Q5 has more choice in drivetrains than any of its competition, but none of them are particularly lacking in their overall scores.

The Mercedes GLK has a new diesel option this year, and it's priced more reasonably than the Q5 TDI, though adding comparable features draws the prices closer.

BMW's X3 has excellent turbocharged engines and lots of interior space, while the Range Rover Evoque gets a new nine-speed automatic this year.

Volvo's XC60 has some standout safety technology and the most cargo room in the segment, while the Cadillac SRX has the CUE touchscreen interface and an excellent V-6 underhood.

Quick Specs
The 2014 Audi Q5 gets quite serious about fuel economy with TDI power; it's still one of the most elegant, truly carlike luxury crossover SUVs.
The 2014 BMW X3 is one of the sportiest-driving yet most fuel-efficient compact crossovers; and especially if you're not budget-limited you'll almost certainly be happy with its useful technology options and finely detailed cabin.
The 2014 Cadillac SRX is the uniquely American pick among luxury crossovers; and its interior appointments and class-leading technology don't disappoint.
The 2014 Range Rover Evoque may not be as burly as its bigger brand-mates, but it's every bit as sophisticated and stylish.
The 2014 Mercedes-Benz GLK has car-like road manners, despite its rugged-looking exterior. Following 2013's engines updates, it's now more fuel-efficient, too.
The 2014 Volvo XC60 keeps in sync with Volvo's reputation for safe, luxurious wagons–just in a taller crossover package.
