2018 Audi A6 vs. Its Competition

2018 Audi S6
Aaron Cole Aaron Cole Managing Editor

The Audi S6 best competes with the Mercedes-Benz E43 AMG and BMW M550i xDrive, both of which are newer cars.

The E43 has a raft of new flashy tech and a competent V-6, although it feels a little more relaxed than the Audi.

We haven’t had the chance to drive a new M550i xDrive yet, but we’ll update this space once we do.

The Lexus GS F is wildly fun and brusque, uncommon for Lexus.

Cadillac’s CTS-V is wild for the class and much more raw—we love the idea, if not the execution too.

Put simply, there’s not a bad pick among the crowd.

Quick Specs
7.0
The 2018 Audi S6 stands with an impressive hand: quality interior, great performance, functional shape. It's possible to find better examples from other cars, but they all cost significantly more.
7.8
The 2018 BMW 5-Series expands the sedan's already-excellent lineup to include an efficient plug-in hybrid and an uber-quick V-8.
7.5
The 2018 Cadillac CTS-V scorches the earth, and leaves the E63 and RS7 with some burn marks.
7.2
The 2018 Lexus GS is a worthy rival to its German foes in terms of luxury and handling, but its engine lineup is falling behind the competition.
8.3
The 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class goes to excess--the right kinds of excess--to preserve its best-of status.
