2013 Acura TSX vs. Its Competition

The 2013 Acura TSX doesn't land firmly into one particular class of premium sedan, and while that might keep it off some shoppers' lists, we also think that adds to its appeal.

On one hand, the TSX appeals to those also considering traditional compact sport sedans like the BMW 3-Series or Audi A4.

Both of those models are quite a bit more expensive, however, and don't have the light driving feel of the TSX; although they do both offer far more tech options.

The 3-Series, in its new 328i form, with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, now gets considerably better fuel economy.

Two other interesting alternatives are the Subaru Legacy and Buick Regal.

The Regal offers a similar package, and efficient turbocharged four-cylinder engines, although it drives heavier.

On the other hand, the Legacy has standard all-wheel drive, but its interior is clearly down a notch in the ladder to luxury.

Acura's Civic-based ILX sedan is a step smaller than the TSX and doesn't have nearly as much personality, although the ILX does come in a much more fuel-efficient Hybrid model.

The 2013 Acura ILX is a balanced, if compromised, entry-level/near-luxury sedan that combines fun and style for an affordable price.
Magnificent design and technology sets the Audi A4 apart, but it's not quite as sporty as its BMW and Cadillac competition.
The 2013 BMW 3-Series is safe, fuel-efficient, and well-connected, yet it delivers the class-leading performance and handling that enthusiasts have come to expect.
