2015 Acura RLX vs. Its Competition

Acura is targeting German competition in the form of the Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5-Series, and Audi A6--but more realistically, given those brands' strong repeat business, we think the competition lies elsewhere.

The Cadillac XTS is a pick of the crop: the big sedan has unexpectedly nimble handling, available all-wheel drive and big power, an optional adjustable suspension, and the touchpad CUE interface, if you're up for a cutting-edge learning experience.

The Hyundai Genesis is a superb bargain among imported sedans; it's rear-wheel drive and the latest generation has put an emphasis on handling, even if it's still not quite competitive with the Germans.

The Lincoln MKS and Volvo S80 share a front-drive architecture and all-wheel-drive availability, but the MKS is the surprising choice for its optional 365-hp turbocharged engine and its discreetly American styling.

Lastly, the Lexus GS has a lovely new shape and an equally stylish interior; choose the F-Sport model and crisp handling is (finally) part of the package, too.
