2018 Acura RDX vs. Its Competition

2018 Acura RDX
Andrew Ganz Andrew Ganz Senior Editor

The 2018 Acura RDX slices in somewhere between high-volume crossovers like the Honda CR-V and Chevrolet Equinox and more premium competitors from Europe.

It basically takes off where the GMC Terrain ends, offering a more upscale purchasing experience and fancy safety features at a price only incrementally higher.

From there, the Volvo XC60 offers a similar high-value, entry-level luxury story, albeit with more flair than the Acura.

The Lincoln MKC surprises us with its style and features, even though it—like the RDX—doesn’t quite feel like a legitimate luxury crossover.

Germany serves up the real class acts here, but you’ll pay a lot more for the Audi Q5 and Mercedes-Benz GLC.

Is it worth it? That’s for you to decide.

Quick Specs
6.7
Consider the 2018 Acura RDX if you’re after a budget-conscious crossover that rides and drives well.
7.5
The Audi Q5 is certainly the segment's most modern offering, delivering a high degree of technology, comfort, and conservative style.
7.2
The 2018 GMC Terrain tucks into a jazzy new body, and boasts a great new turbo-4 drivetrain, but needs to spread its safety message farther, and wider.
7.0
The 2018 Lincoln MKC is a luxury compact crossover that’s a relative value compared to others. It’s an SUV with all the amenities, but without the cachet.
7.8
The 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class captivates crossover types with its lush cabin and its plush ride; there’s AMG power on tap if you must.
7.5
With the new 2018 XC60, Volvo has cached all the XC90’s good data, and trimmed some fat from its code.
