When you look at the whole package, the RDX got better last year, while growing considerably in ride comfort, fuel economy, and features.
But if you value technology or being noticed, there are probably other better products for you.
The BMW X3 remains a strong alternative, with an efficient new four-cylinder turbo and an excellent balance of ride quality and handling.
The VW Tiguan's turbo four is easy to live with, but it doesn't have quite as luxurious a sheen as the RDX—this is more of a mass-market model, and priced accordingly.
The Mercedes-Benz GLK is of a size with the rest of this group, but offers a more mature feel.
The Audi Q5 stands out for its excellent interior quality, choice of fuel-efficient engines, and ride quality.
The Range Rover Evoque, delivers similar performance to the RDX in a slightly more practical package and with a good deal more posh style.
And one of the mainstays in this group—although it's a half-step larger—is the Lexus RX 350.
It's been around from the start, but it's still the benchmark for luxury crossovers and hits the mark in all but performance.

The 2014 Acura RDX offers a relatively sporty look and driving feel, as well as a quiet, comfortable interior and top-notch safety; but features or flair it's no standout. |
