2017 Acura MDX vs. Its Competition

2017 Acura MDX Sport Hybrid

The Lexus RX offers only two rows of seating, but with a edgy new design and F Sport versions of even the RX 450h hybrid model, it’s taken a sportier tack and is more of an alternative to the MDX than it was; it still doesn’t offer a third row of seating though.

The Volvo XC90 is all new, very luxurious and quiet, and offers a plug-in hybrid edition—as well as an excellent interface.

The BMW X5 is a more handsome–albeit more carlike–crossover than it ever has been in the past, and offers a wider variety of engines, appearance packages, and interior trims.

The Lexus RX 350 is the segment's perennial best-seller, but it lacks the extra row of seats and much of the fun-factor behind the wheel.

There's also the Buick Enclave, which offers an exceptionally quiet ride and gentle, smooth driving dynamics–as well as a long list of standard and available features.

The Lincoln MKT may look a little strange from the outside, but its interior is well-designed and equally useful by comparison to the MDX.

Quick Specs
The 2017 Acura MDX is one of the best-driving, most technologically advanced three-row luxury crossovers, and a new Sport Hybrid model and active suspension should only add to that reputation.
The 2017 BMW X5 boasts a solid set of powertrains and features that move the sedan toward the top of any list of luxury SUVs.
The 2017 Buick Enclave is a good-looking SUV for families and one of the better-aging GM cars in recent memory.
The styling may be polarizing, but the comfortable, spacious interior and muscular turbo V-6 still make the MKT an outside pick against luxury crossovers.
The 2017 Volvo XC90 is comfortable, capable, and only whispers its virtues—reinterpreting the Volvo brand as quiet sophistication in comfort, style, and efficiency.
