There are many types, styles and applications of cars out there and the "best car to buy" award is totally a personal decision. For me, the clear winner over every car was the 2012 Chrysler 300 Luxury model with V-6 and the eight speed transmission. I briefly looked at Cadillac and BMW and for the money and features, ride and quality, the Chrysler was my choice. I'm totally satisfied with the Chrysler and think I truly picked the best car to buy--FOR ME.

Thanks Bill, and definitely a point that can't be emphasized enough. There is of course some subjectivity in our scoring system (obviously with respect to Styling and Comfort, but in other respects as well); the best approach is to read through our detailed full reviews and then use them as a starting point, applying your own personal shopping/ownership priorities (and aesthetic preferences) to that.

When Cadillac has improved their reliability to above average they may be on to something. Until then, honorable mention is pretty generous.

How long does it take to build up reliability in a car? You certainly can't rate a new car on reliability except to say how well its earlier siblings were.
