a good, solid car, it feels very sturdy. the v6 has a little trouble in the low range, yet has ample power to chirp all 4 tires when pressed hard. of course when you do you will be lurched by the gearbox, as it shifts rather unsmoothly for such a pricey car. it feels a little heavy when cornering hard, to the point of noticeable tire squeal where less quick cars hold their own. in compensation for the lack of V8-like power, the car returns a generous 26 mpg highway, albeit on 93 octane. the car... When it's time for you to step out of the smaller entry-level premium sedans, the 2008 Acura RL doesn't really stand out among the excellent competitors it faces. It's probably because the Acura RL is V-6 powered and uses all-wheel drive. The balance of competitors is either larger or more powerful, or it offers a V-8 or rear-wheel-drive--or some combination of the four. The Audi A6, BMW 5 Series, Cadillac STS, and Mercedes-Benz E-Class come in super-performance editions, while the Lexus GS is offered as a hybrid.
