My 1999 VW New Beetle key will not go in door lock?
The remote works to unlock and lock the car and open trunk. The key works to start up the car and open the trunk BUT it will not fit in the drivers side door lock. (there is not passenger side door lock on the outside.) Is there some reason for this? It fits in part way but not fully and will not unlock the door because its halfway sticking out...

Both answers are correct, but it is not that hard to fit the lock to the key, if you take the handle out and to a locksmith. $10. The reality is that all they have to do is move the tumblers around, and they can even leave some out if there is any problem getting it to work. It is not as if anyone...
