I live in a snowy state and I need a car that would get me to my work on daily basis, which is kind of uphill drive. which would do better the GTI with all season performance tires ( I can change it to snow tries if it makes that much of a difference) or the WRX? It sounds like an intermittent miss-fire. It is definitely not because it is brand new and not broken in (run -in) yet. Probably a faulty spark plug, coil or HT wire. Get it checked out by your local mechanic. He should be able yo pinpoint exactly where the problem lies.

The 2009 Volkswagen GTI lands somewhere between less-mature small, sporty coupes and hatches, like the Civic Si and Mazdaspeed3, and more mature, entry-level sporty luxury coupes like the BMW 1-Series.
The Volvo C30 is perhaps the most direct rival to the GTI, though the C30 is decidedly sportier in appearance.
Audi’s A3 is a slightly larger alternative to the GTI, with five doors for those who want something closer to a wagon.
It is admittedly quite a bit more expensive.
