Check engine light has to do with emmissions, Your car won't die on you. Make sure the gas cap is on properly that can trigger the light. If it the gas cap the light should extinguish itself after a few start ups.If the light stays on get it scanned.

My car is performing sluggishly. It is vibrating more then usual. When you turn it on it seems to be idling higher then normal. It is due for a oil change. Do you think that will help?
