Should I reapair or replace my Subaru?
I have a 99 Subaru Legacy Sedan with a 2.2 liter engine that has 108,000 miles on it. Recently some blue smoke began coming out the exhaust when starting cold. My mechanic said he found a used 2.2 with 71,000 miles on it and could get the engine and install it for $3200. I told him I didn't feel comfortable spending that much on a car with so many...

First of all 108,000 miles is not alot on the Subaru 2.2 engine. The car is worth fixing but get a second opinion. Has the car been maintained properly? Why the blue smoke. Second get a second opinion the 2.2 litre 4 cylinder are best engine Subaru has come out with. I have seen them with 275,000+...

Can I run a different size tire on my Subaru?
I drive a 2008 Subaru Legacy sedan and the factory tire size is 205/50/17. I want to put a set of winter wheels/tires on and found a great deal on a full set of mounted and balanced winter tires that are size 205/70/15. They would be 4.65% larger then the current tires. Just so this is clear: I am not looking to run two different sizes. I would be...

Those 15" tires will be too tall to be ideal. The correct 15" tire size to maintain the same overall diameter would be P195/65R15 which is quite a difference. Reference:I work in the tire industry

With its standard all-wheel drive and more of a reputation for performance than for being a bread-and-butter family vehicle, the 2008 Subaru Legacy competes with some of the more exciting-to-drive mid-size sedans, along with the most affordable of the European sports sedans.

The Altima and Passat are both sporty mid-size sedans that have very attractive, comfortable interiors, though the Altima doesn't offer all-wheel drive and the Passat only offers it with the more expensive V-6 model.

The Audi A4 is a more formidable alternative, with its fuel-efficient 2.0T powertrain, quattro all-wheel drive, and very attractive, upscale interior.

Finally, Volvo and Subaru buyers have long overlapped, and the Volvo S60 has several sensible and attractive all-wheel-drive models.

Neither of them offers performance like the GT Spec.B, but the S60 has a better ride and more comfortable interior.
