2009 Subaru Impreza 2.5i upgrades from stock?
I just bought the new car and was wondering what the most feasible solutions for adding power to it were. Buying an STI or WRX didn't make sense for me right now but I was planning on adding upgrades to it here and there over the years. Turbo, intake, exhaust, suspension? What's worth it and what won't work?

I don't get why people say they bought a 2.5 RS/i because it didn't make sense to pay the extra $8000 for a WRX but they want more power and are willing to spend $8000 modding it. Save up some money until you can buy a WRX/STI and just enjoy your car now for what it is. I'm not trying to be a dick...

2009 subaru impreza wrx hatch mpg?
I want to get an 09 wrx for college. But it says it gets 18/25 mpg. That's not too bad but compared to the n/a standard impreza it is like a 5mpg decrease! If I shift below 3k and stay out of boost will I achieve 27mpg like the N/A Or is it a bad decision to get a wrx?? I think it is good because awd, power and reliability! From you guys who...

I would say its a great decision if you have the money to pay for the 92 octane rating gas. I would say get the standard impreza 2.5i. I have the same car and i get 24mpg driving through back roads. 30-35 mpg on the highway and i have gotten Between 16-19 mpgs in the city. But i shift at 3000 rpms...

Why should I also consider these? X

Two affordable alternatives to the Impreza are the Volkswagen Rabbit and the Suzuki SX4 Crossover.

The Rabbit doesn't have all-wheel drive, but it's loaded with safety features, a peppy five-cylinder engine, and a well-appointed interior, while the little SX4 Crossover is the lowest-priced vehicle with all-wheel drive, performs well, and has an interior that feels more upmarket than its price.

The Toyota Matrix is a good alternative, with available all-wheel drive, a relatively roomy interior, and a good ride.

But the Matrix doesn't perform as ably as the Impreza, and safety items like side airbags are optional on the Matrix.

The Dodge Caliber offers all-wheel drive as an option on its top R/T model, but the Caliber has a noisy interior and feels cheaper inside; Subaru shoppers might not find its styling very appealing either.

And for those who miss the former Impreza's edgier handling and sharper feel, the Mazda3 and Lancer deliver, but in both counts, engine and road noise can be quite obtrusive.
