You won't regret it! I've had personal experience with this & believe me you will DOUBLE your miles per gallon. You may also want to check out the Ford Escape Hybrid. It is a little cheaper & just as nice. Remember also that you can still get a LARGE federal tax incentive on these. You should also...

Are the clothe seats in the 2008 Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner the same hardness?
My wife and I sat in both the vehicles and even though they look slightly different they feel the same to me. My wife says the Mariner's seats are more comfortable and softer. I would think that the seats would be made at the same factory but covered slightly different. Our marriage is RIDING on this! Well maybe not quite. (Cloth) seats

Why should I also consider these? X

The 2008 Mercury Mariner is superior to the 2007 models.

This keeps it competitive with the Chevrolet Equinox and Suzuki XL7, but that's not saying much.

The all-new Saturn Vue, Honda CR-V, and Toyota RAV4 are newer designs that offer more refinement than the 2008 Mariner with roughly equal capabilities.

The all-new 2009 Dodge Journey also takes aim at the Mariner, and its overtly crossover style may attract a lot of lookers.
