2000 mercedes benz clk 430 won't start. ESP light is on?
key turns over and lights comes on,the car donesn't start. and when it did start after10 minuets of trying, it wouldn't shift. i did the pen trick to put it in safty mode and got it home , now the ESP light is on and it won,t start again.

sounds like you have 2 issues, if it cranks but won't start until you waited awhile, it sounds like a crankshaft position sensor, the not shifting out of part and esp light on sounds like a stop light switch, both easy to check, hook ohm meter to crank sensor and heat sensor with heat gun, if...

2000 Mercedes CLK 320. Check engine light on. Car loses power.?
Has to be restarted repeatedly. Problem is worse when cold (under 50 degrees). Any thoughts before I take it in for service?

This is all a guess without more info, but one of the key sources of the check engine light is the oxygen sensor in the exhaust. This feeds info to the mixture computer. This would definitely give the symptoms you are describing.
