2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee.. Gear noise!! Is it really normal?
Hello, Last week, I bought a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee (Limited/8 cylinders/ 4 by 4 all the time). I really like this car except for that fact that every time I switch the gear from (D) to (N) I hear a noise. I went to the dealership and they said it's normal!! So what do you think? Also, is it fixable? P.S. According to some specialists, the noise...

Yes 4x4 vehicles do make some drive line noise that other 2wd vehicles will not they have to leave a little bit more gear lash in a 4x4 vehicles transfer case and drive line so that things don't bind up and wear out quicker. Also you are just hearing the drive line go from slack in neutral to...

Why should I also consider these? X

The new Grand Cherokee still calls itself an SUV, while seven-seat “crossovers” rule the sales charts today.

Of those vehicles, the Cherokee’s most like the VW Touareg in interior room and off-roadability.

The Touareg can be frighteningly expensive, though.

The Cherokee’s far more attractive than the blocky Honda Pilot, but it’s not quite as distinctive as the boutique-shopper’s choice, the rather exclusive Land Rover LR4.

The Chevrolet Traverse equals the Cherokee in drivetrain refinement, but it’s much more comfortable toting tots than crossing anything more challenging than a four-way intersection.

The wild card here: Ford’s 2011 Explorer, which ditches body-on-frame design for crossover appeal and better fuel economy.
