It's ESP ( Electronic Stability Platform ),not ESB. If you're lucky, it's the brake switch ( a $20 part ) that's gone but it could also be the shifter mechanism itself if the ML430 is a 2000 or newer. If it's a 1999 model, it may be the gear recognition switch. That gear switch could be purchased...
