I took it to autozone to have it diagnosed and they said that the problem is with the transmission so I need to have it looked at. I googled "2004 dodge stratus transmission problems" and found one saying that the transmission will slip or "will not engage" in cold...

It means you should first check its fluid level to make sure it is ok.
