I have a 1999 dodge ram will not engage 4low 4 high works fine?
my 99 dodge ram 1500 will not go in 4low.when shifted to 4low it puts the truck in neutral and will not move.Then when trying to take out of 4low it grinds bad have to turn truck off to shift out.The 4high works flawless and 4 low did before just quit working one day. I do have the truck in neutral while trying this and sitting still have tried...

Apparently you are not going past neutral in the transfer case. This could be caused by the adjustment set screw coming loose. If you shift into low at a slow roll(as the manual instructs)the gears will not grind. Sitting still and going from neutral to high or low will cause the gears to grind...

Given the expense and re-engineering involved, I would consider buying a different truck. It will take extensive work to get a different engine to work in that vehicle. zxc
