a thermal sensor or the A/C switch when the A/C is turned on?

on a 2003 model its activated by a senor on the engine which in turn tells the computer to activate the relay which turns the fan on ,there's also a fuse that controls all this ,if it blows the system becomes inoperable on it,the switch on the inside also by passes the sensor and turns the fan on...
