I have a 2005 chevy silverado 1500 4x4 ext cab. what is the biggest i can go w/o making and mods to the truck. i have 265/70/17 now. Will 285's work or will i have problems? also while you are here any good tire recommendations? thanks

What would be the best thing to do with a 2005 Chevy Z71 for gas mileage?
I know nothing about chips and programmers, but i want to get the most gas mileage i can out of my 2005 Silverado 1500 (Z71) 5.3L V8 Vortec. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A chip or program would be good, go to like an Advance Auto, or Napa, or check online for them. Also you can get an aftermarket performance intake system for your truck, and an exhaust system. new, more efficient plugs and wires help (but DO NOT use cheap ones, get the good ones!!), and also...
