The erratic idle and stall out could be from a number of things. Is the check engine light on? Don't ever go to midas with an euro import. Find a reputable independent vw/audi shop and have them scan for fault codes.

How do you open the doors with the key on a 1999 Audi A4 It doesn't seem to work.?
I have three keys, and none of them open the doors without the remote . This seems strange, whoever gives me the right answer gets 10 pts. Thank You

I think you may have the wrong key? Perhaps the remote was programmed but the key isnt right? Does your key start the car? Maybe the previous owner changed the ingintion but not the door keys?
