Mr.
This is the second Chevy I bought and it's now the second time it sits in the repair shop and me driving a piece of junk loaner.
Less than 400 miles and twice I awake to a dead battery. Of course it's intemittant and the source can't be found. So I now have a car I cant' trust to take anywhere. (My previous purchase what an Avalanche that leaked oil the day I took it home. Took them three tries before they had to drop the oil pan to fix it). Now I know why they need a bail out. I'LL NEVER BUY AN AMERICAN CAR AGAIN !!!!!

Good Car
I went to test drive the Traverse with a friend of mine that was looking for a replacement for his now aging and beat up Highlander. The traverse drove nicely and had alot of convinient features. The dealer thru in so many incentives and discounts my friend went ahead and bought it for less that the car is advertized for!
As for the previous poster who had problems with his new car purchase.. the same thing happend to me!
But not with a Chevy. My last 2 cars were lemons. 1st one was a 2006 Toyota Corolla. Within the 1st week of purchasing it, I started having problems. The car would pull to the left when on the highway or going more than 45 miles per hour! Took it to the dealer, they said take it to a different dealer because they were tired of so many warranty claims on the corolla they were getting. So I did take it to a different dealer. After 3 attempts at fixing the problem they said it was just the way the car drives and I would have to just get used to it! Needless to say I developed new muscles in my arms trying to keep the car tracking straight.
The next thing that happend was at only 1200 miles. I noticed a slight burning smell.. took it in to the dealer, they said nothing is wrong, it's "just dust in the heater". Over the next 2 days I noticed the smell again, and then the cars transmition siezed up! Had to have it towed to the dealership, it needed a WHOLE NEW TRANSMITION!!! This was a brand new car only driven for 3 months!
My 2nd car was a Nissan Sentra. I got the one with the CVT. With this car everything was fine for the first 2 weeks. Then starting the 3rd week the visors started to wiggle. I drive pretty much all city and some highway, but nothing out of the ordinary. By the end of the 1st month the driver visor had already fallen all the way out! The next thing to go was the outside driver sideview mirror. I was washing the car with one of those faux sheepskin hand mits, and when i went to wash the mirror, it just fell off with the weight of my hand! I couldn't believe it. I've never expirienced any car being that flimsy! Both of these items were replaced by the dealership. The guy at the counter actually kinda laughed about the visor and then pointed over to a box he had that was full of new visors he had to order because of the amount of people he was having coming in with the same issue.
The next issue I started having with the Sentra was with the CVT transmition. It would randomly do a really strange thing when I would put on the breaks to slow the car, like when approaching a red light. Put on the breaks... the car starts to slow, and now almost at the red light... and then suddenly... the car LUNGES FORWARD!!! What in the world???!! Imagine if you had a car in front of you waiting at the light? this is a dangerous and disconserting defect! The transmition also makes a loud droaning noise just with normal driving. One that makes you wonder when its going to break down. 2 months after owning it the tire pressure light went on. I checked all the tires pressure and they were all fine so I took it back to the dealership (now my 5th time to the dealership for defects and quality issues) where they had to reset it, and yet 2 days later the same issue! Dealt with that light coming back on for the next 3 weeks until finally I went back again to the dealership and they ordered in replacement parts after finally admitting that it was a known issue for these cars! That was it. I finally had it. I got rid of that car and now own a new Ford Fussion. With available rebates and incentives I was able to get this car for less than the Japanese equivalents. With the money I saved I bought an extended warranty for the car thru the dealership and bargained the price of the warranty way down to half of what they were originally asking. The additional warranty gives me bumper to bumper coverage all the way to 100,000 miles. This car has been such a pleasure to drive that I've already done 3 road trips in it with friends and now already have 12,000 miles on the car with ZERO problems!!! I'LL NEVER BUY AN ASIAN CAR AGAIN !!!!!

Almost perfect
The Traverse is the first car I bought. Driving around toronto is so smooth and I can feel the power of the V6 engine pulling me. The design of the dashboard are perfect you could see the gauges clearly and well lit. The side mirrors are well design you could almost see the blind spot without doing a side check. The only thing I don't like is backing up there are lots of blind spots this is because I bought the LS model also add to that is the rear mirror is small. But overall I give the traverse a 9 out of 10.

Traverse provides far less fuel mileage than Chevrolet advertising states ! 19 HWY,12-13 in town are real figures and CHEVROLET says that these figures are ,in reality, what to expect.Only after you buy will you be told the truth !

I bought a 2009 Traverse TLZ and I have had the battery die on me 5 or 6 times now. I am in Sales and have put on nearly 30k miles since February and the average mileage ( highway) is 17 MPG. This is very dissapointing since I traded in my 2003 Ford Explorer with 200K that averaged 21 MPG.

I bought an 09 2Lt back in march. It is by far the best value on the road!I showed my dad, he bought one 2 days later. To say that i absolutely love it and is the best suv ever, would be the understatement of the year!

Has anyone had trouble with the dash board instruments flashing causing the air conditioner to stop? I bought my Traverse new off the lot and this on-going problem started right away and has been a "mystery" to the dealer mechanics for 6 weeks.

I've had the traverse for only six months, when a few weeks ago starting hearing a rattling noise when I would start the vehicle. The dealer mechanics were not able to pinpoint where the sound was coming from and decided to call in a factory rep, who has so far misdiagnosed the problem twice. Three weeks later, go on four, my vehicle is still at the dealership and tney are waiting on a gm engineer to come in and try to fix the problem. I did love my car, but its starting to look more and more like a lemon, so I'm disappointed and starting to get very frustrated.

We bought out 09' Traverse end of May and only have 4000+ miles on it. The first issue we had with it is the XM radio. The signal was lost and has yet to be recovered. We get the preview channel so I know XM is sending the signal but the radio will not activate and hold the actual radio channels. And now the door locks have a gremlin in them. One day we went to get in and the only door that unlocked with the remote was the drivers door and rear hatch. This was an on and off problem for a few days and the dealer had to order all new door lock motors! 4 motors in a new vehicle? Well it worked for a day and we are back to them not working again. The dealer ordered a new radio thinking thats the problem, but come on Chevy!! And the automakers wonder why they went bankrupt! And I love chevy! No complaints else where...

I have a brand new 09 Traverse that I bought last May '09 and the dealer hooked up a dvd system through an outside contractor. Since then, the battery went dead twice and it was totally drained after 4 days of the not using it. I sent it back to the dealer the first time and their service department seemingly fixed it, but it happened again the second time. Is that supposed to happen?

I bought a 09 Traverse last week and so far it has been a most impressive people hauler. GM did a great job with the design, both interior and exterior. No complaints so far, highly recommended.
