Other Choices:

Competitors for the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro fall in to several categories dictated by which Camaro you're considering. The most obvious competitors are the Camaro's traditional nemeses: the 2010 Ford Mustang and 2009 Dodge Challenger. We prefer the base Camaro to the base V-6 Mustang or Challenger because the Chevy's engine/transmissions are flat-out better. However, the newest Mustang GT is plenty refined and stands out as a great value with a V-8. The Mustang Shelby GT500 manages to eclipse even the Camaro SS's formidable punch, with 540 horses. The Challenger R/T and SRT8 provide two different levels of V-8 power packaged around a larger five-passenger interior. If you're looking at other coupes with V-6 engines and automatic transmissions, the Toyota Solara could be your car if you prefer a duller drive with less iconic style. Sporty coupes like the 2009 Nissan 370Z and 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe might be up your alley if you're considering a Camaro with a V-6 and a six-speed manual. The Camaro is unabashedly American in its styling, but the refinement of its powertrain and suspension are easily the match for these imports.

    Another cheap product

exterior design is great but if you've seen the interior, it's all plastic and looks like some transformer toy. another reason why GM is on the path of failure.

    The Best Camaro Yet....

Notice there's no exclamation point at the end of my title...? It's because "the best Camaro yet...." is almost damning it with faint praise. As a former owner of a mid 80's Trans AM I was hoping for a sexier design. I doubt anyone, but the musclecar faithful will really want to walk outside and see this new Camaro in their driveway. There are way too many other suitable choices for the money.... (Infinity G37, 3-series coupe, Nissan 370Z, the Corvette and the list goes on and on....)

    This Car Rocks

As soon as the buying frenzy stops and I can get a deal I will trade in my 03 Accord I4 . For a Camaro in Red Jewel tint. So I am not muscle car faithful.
The car starts at 23K. The Vette, G-37, 370
BMW 3-Series are not direct competition.
Mustang,Challenger, Accord Coupe V6, Altima Coupe V6 are the main competition. Most Camaros will sell in the $24-$32 range. And I would much rather have a loaded Camaro than a basic 370Z or G37 or whatever.

    No Stang

Never was a Camaro buff...but this one looks like the 1967's overweight sister.
    I'll keep my GT

    Bathtub with wheels

tried out the V6 version at my local dealer and came away shaking my head in disbelief.
The car has horrible visibility because of its high sides and low roof and not much better out the front due to its massively thick windshield pillars.
The interior was completely devoid of anything but two gauge clusters and not much else.
It rattled and squeaked over every bump, combine that with its short fat Hot Wheels look and you have a disgrace to the Camaro legacy.
Fit and finish were average at best with paint quality grainy.
Couldn't care less about performance, this thing is a joke and the very reason GM has gone belly up!

My last GM car was a 1980 Z-28, I bought it brand new, at 32,000 miles I traded up to a brand new 1982 Datsun 280 ZX, I've never looked back, my Z-28 was a dud, six Japanese cars later, I was willing to give the new Camaro a try, but a visit to the dealer proved disappointing to say the least. The interior looks cheap and hastily put together, the red paint was covered in orange-peel and to add insult to injury the dealer is adding a premium to MSRP, no wonder GM is in the toilet, shoddy quality, greedy dealers and a whole lot of hype. The salesman was giving me a better deal on a '09 LT-1 Vette than the Camaro LT-2 SS. I just don't feel sorry for GM anymore. By the way, how long before Uncle Obama kills off the "irresponsible Gas Hog" SS?? Looks like I'll be getting a 370 Z.

I have had 3 cars since 1989, two of them getting 250k plus i am still driving the third.
All i did was change the oil and checked the fluids and put gas in them, along with some minor mechanical repairs that all cars have. So I don't get all the American car bashing. All three of mine have been great to me and i would not buy anything else. BTW all three of my cars were GM products.

Number 8. I find your comment intersting, since I too drove the V6 model at my local dealer. The cabin was extremely quiet. Never heard a squeak or rattle anywhere in the car. Shaking your head in disbelief - I find that unbelievable. I must 2nd number 10. I have had no quality or reliability issues with any of my GM vehicles.

  12. By charmed #12, Posted: 6/19/2009

I think that the new camaro is Great dispite all of you horrible people of think its a bad car which it isn't its a perfect car I Love it and I Plan on getting one.

I have received my 2010 Camaro SS. I am very pleased with the 400 HP Auto.version. Great fuel economy on highway @25.2 MPG @ 73 MPH. The first two Quarter Mile times @ Houston Raceway 13.84 @ 104 & 13.88 @ 103. It gets plenty of attention when it is anywhere.Get yours soon.

I just saw the car at the dealer. WOW! this is the biggest disappointment in quality. If you look at the paint, the missing paint spots, orange peel, etc,. you will know what I mean. How can they let this thing off the production line. Open the hood and you will see that around most of the fender points, shock towers, etc. all the paint is barely sprayed on. As a painter ( with robots) of 25 years this tells me the outside panel paint is so thin that it has limited over spray. I also looked under the door and found that this spot is also almost completely void of paint.
Basically all you are buying is the drivetrain for the money. Good bye GM

  15. By Daniel #15, Posted: 7/13/2009

It really cracks me up to hear you dolts whining about paint quality... Have any of you taken a look at a new S-Class Mercedes? Guess what, ORANGE PEEL!!! Stupid car costs more than my house and the paint quality is no better than a seven thousand dollar Hyundai Accent!!! STOP NITPICKING! EVERY new car has a ridiculously plastic interior! Want nice paint and a beautiful interior AND amazing ride/handeling/performance/economy numbers, with stunning body lines? Buy a 57 Shoebox and throw about 35 grand at it. The truth of the matter is: The car handles well, rides great, and looks stunning. If you can't live with that, DON'T BUY ONE!

I love the look of this car, I will have it soon :)

  21. By Chase #21, Posted: 8/5/2009

i think its hilarious to hear all you nit-picky assholes who like to hate on the camaro because its better than ur shitty mustang GT and ur challenger...take a look at both those cars- challenger costs more than the 2SS camaro and has multiple engineering flaws (look just above the wheels) oh and speaking of wheels- THEY'RE PLASTIC HUBCAPS! challenger=shit...now onto the other 'alternative' if you can even call the mustang an alternative...a shitty v8 with terrible fuel economy and more costly than a v6 camaro? what are you retarded? the camaro hands down (next to the vetts) is the best sports car even when matched against others outside it's price range. and all you people saying "oh well its nowhere near as good as my 370Z or w/e" well thats because your 370Z didn't cost $23k. I bet not a single one of you could find a new car as hot as the camaro for the price given. and infiniti? nissan? sports cars? c'mon....seriously? they look like a damn VW bug with a longer front end...
the 2010 camaro amazing and i look forward to the 2011.

  22. By Kosta #22, Posted: 8/11/2009

seriously gonna take this car nevertheless we still don't have it in my country...waiting for dealers in europe...but the price...it would be not 25-30000 usd, but 55000 and 75000usd for ss type..it's pretty shitty...((( want to take it anyway!!!

  23. By john recallgm #23, Posted: 8/12/2009

This is 1 ugly car and a big piece of CR_P only acme face old farts will buy this thing!!!If they can get in it!!!! Theoutside looks like someone sat on it!!!! Camaro were never pretty or any good cars but Gm fans loves them anyways!!! Because it a car that you are always working on!!!!! GM always break down!!!! PROVEN FACT!!! I work for GM 20 years and we dont drive GM dummies!!!! Smart people buy the better looking Challenger and wont have any problems with this beatiful car!!!!LOSER buy CAMAROS!!!!!

  24. By keydawg911 #24, Posted: 8/13/2009

This is crazy!!! I love the 2010 chevy camaro. You buy a sports car for performance, not paint jobs and fancy interiors. You have Chevy fans and you have Ford fans. Chevy fans will love the Camaro and ford fans will not. As far as performance, for the money the camaro wins hands down. I will admit the mustang is tighter and hugs just a slight bit better. But hit a bump and the car quickly jumps out of line. So let's stop all the name calling and let's be proud that we have 3 american pony cars on the market. All have their strong point and flaws but they are all made by proud americans. Grow up people

I am not a fan of one particular company. If I like what I see then that's all that matters. My dad's a dodge man and refuses to buy anything but dodge. However, 5 weeks ago he went with me to the dealership to order my camaro. I was going to get an automatic because my boyfriend can't drive a stick and it sucks when I don't feel like driving my car. Anyways, I decided it's my car and ordered the 2LT RS in a 6 speed standard shift. I am so excited and can't wait 'til it comes in!!!

  27. By luvmyCamaro #27, Posted: 8/26/2009

I've owned a 2010 Camaro for 4 weeks now and love it! I have two dislikes, first is the visors....sooo tiny they are useless; second, there is a slight noise like something hitting the bottom when I first turn out of my driveway in the mornings...that's about it.

  28. By Brian #28, Posted: 8/26/2009

I have a 1985 Chevy pickup with 589,000 miles on it-been good to me. My Dad has a 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass that gets 29.5 miles per gallon. I like the new Camaro-just wish it was built in the good ol USA.

  29. By Tom #29, Posted: 8/27/2009

I had a 2010 Camaro unlike most of you armchair dorks and found it less than enjoyable over the 2 months I had it. I test drove the 2010 gt 500 and that was it for the crap Camaro.
I traded in on the spot for the GT500. So shoot you mouth off with out having driven it all you want!

  30. By David #30, Posted: 8/30/2009

Weird comments on quality. Bottom line you get what you pay for. You want better quality, stop whining and buy one of these; Lamborghini, Masarati, Bulgati, Bently. I could keep going but you get the point. American muscle is a foundation built on guys making what they get better, faster and more acceptable to the owner. So this is the epitomy of American Muscle with a long standing history similar to it's big bro the Corvette. Bottome line, what do you want to be seen in and what makes you feel good. For me, I like the 2SS but more partial to the Lamborghini LP-670 SV but again two completely different classes of car.

I drove the camaro ss at my chevrolet dealer and I loved it.the power was awsome. The only thing I had a problem with is lack of head room.It was cloth seats wich might have been the problem. Also it was hard to see out of while driving. However a total awsome ride.

  32. By Chris #32, Posted: 9/7/2009

I currently own a '04 Ford Lightning and love it. I'm looking for a new vehicle so I drove the 2010 Camaro SS/RS with 6 speed, then went to my local ford dealer. I drove a Rousch Stage 1 and a GT500. The Rousch at only stage 1 didnt touch the Camaro in my opinion and cost more. The GT500 was nicer but again was $15,000 more than the Camaro. I returned to the Chevy dealer and ordered the Camaro,,, awesome car for the money.

  33. By Awesome #33, Posted: 9/11/2009

On a scale of 1 to 10 the 2010 crapero is a ZERO. How GM could have built this piece of s#it is beyond all logic.

  34. By DENNIS MOUTON #34, Posted: 9/18/2009

I can not believe all the whining about the new Camaro. There are plenty of other cars or trucks for you to choose from.If you don,t like it, Do Not Buy It. I received my SS 2 Automatic June 10. I will not say that this is a Perfect Car, But then Who can Honestly say that their Factory condition car is. I have added American Racing Headers and Exhaust to mine and Tuning . Consistant 13.37 1/4 Mile ET @106 MPH. I am waiting for Procharger Supercharger. Its just a matter of choice, Drive what you like and try to blow the doors off the others. See you soon and I am looking forward to it!!

  35. By jim van vranken #35, Posted: 9/19/2009

An erray of opinions but the bottom line is the Camaro like other American "mucsle Cars" are toys not your everyday transportation family vehicle. These cars are for performance enthusiats who find great pleasure in driving an American icon and not a foreign made wanna be! I ordered a 2SS and plan to enjoy the vehicle for what it is a "toy" Try buying a 1969 Camaro for $30,000 with complete reliability and head turning enthusiasm, won't happen. The new Camaro is a bargain, drive and enjoy, that's where the fun is.

I've read every comment, and honestly it made me think twice boy getting the camaro. I already ordered 2010 camaro ss2, but I'm having second thoughts. I think the car looks great. I'm goin to pay $37,500. A lot of my friends told me that I gt it on the cheap. They also say that in other state it. Goes up to 45 thousand (camaro ss2) so I'm wondering have I paid the right price bs is it worth it?

I am a licensed autobody tech and have worked in the same Chevrolet dealership for the last 8 years. I ordered a 2010 black camaro ss and I absolutley LOVE this car! we have 20 mechanical techs in our dealership and they can find something good and bad to say about ALL of our GM products. so to all you "camaro bashers," unless you actually know these cars and their abilities inside and out like our techs, MIND YOUR MOUTHES! Our techs are critical and they all have nothing but good things to say about this car! it is an overall amazing car, i don't regret one thing about purchasing it! to the person who was talking about orange peel and thin paint, the paint on my car is fine, orange peel to some degree is in EVERY paintjob. Our dealership also uses the same paint brand as the GM factories and this painter your talking about doesn't know what he is talking about! The paint is just fine on my car and i am a licensed painter!

I just purchased a 2SS with the RS package in Inferno Orange. I absolutely love the car. Is visibility somewhat lacking, yes. But talk about fun to drive and it is gourgous. Sound system is fantastic and if you want to go fast hold on. I have owned a 2007 Vette and I like this car better.
