Is the 2500HD enough truck to pull a 30' RV trailer or do I need the 3500HD?

Answered By Justin Cupler, Contributing Writer:
That's very hard to say... It really depends on the weight of the trailer, as they all vary greatly.

The 2011 Silverado 2500HD tows 9,400 lbs. (4WD Crew Cab) to 10,200 lbs. (2WD Work Truck), whereas the 2011 Silverado 3500HD tows 8,700 lbs. (Dually, 4WD, Crew Cab Long Bed) to 14,500 lbs. (Reg. Cab, 2WD, Long bed). You also must consider payload capacity and maximum tongue weight.

You need to check the weight of the trailer and then pick the exact format of each truck you want. Only then can you get the exact towing and payload specifications.
