Q--I have a 2004 Infiniti G35 coupe with 11,000 miles. I have noticed an extremely loud tire noise from the front wheels, mostly when braking and driving at lower speeds. I have contacted the dealership and brought the vehicle in for service. The dealership told me the only way to fix the problem was to replace the front tires. Is this a normal problem with this vehicle?
Upon test-driving, the mechanic said this vehicle requires new tires every 10,000 miles because of the design of the vehicle and the way the tires wear. Have you heard of this problem? Is there any alternative to buying new tires every 10,000 miles?
A--I recall seeing a technical service bulletin about noisy brakes on the G35. On vehicles not equipped with Brembo brake calipers, the fix is to replace all the brake pad shims. Go back and ask your dealer to search their TSB database. Are you sure they weren’t just kidding you about the tires?
