Chrysler 300C: Should I Use Synthetic?

Follow Marty

Q--I recently purchased a Chrysler 300C with a 5.7-liter engine. I have tried to find out how the Multiple Displacement System (MDS) works. Could you direct me? Also, I changed the oil at 1300 miles to Mobil 1 thinking that synthetic oil will provide better operating conditions and engine life for the system. Am I wasting my money?

A--I do not think you are wasting your money because synthetic oils have many benefits that regular petroleum-based oils lack. For one, they don’t oxidize as readily and as a result do not thicken as quickly. As for how the MDS system works, we have covered two similar systems offered by GM and Benz. You can read about some of them here.
