Is this the ultimate Christmas present for the auto fan in your family? British publishing firm Haynes is most famous around the globe for its range of manuals to help the DIY auto mechanic. But its latest release is a bit different – an internal combustion engine you can build for yourself.
It’s not a messy job and there’s no need for a garage, grease or power tools. Designed as an educational kit, and complete with its own bespoke Haynes Manual, the detailed metal-and-plastic engine is very easy to put together. Key components such as the pistons, valvegear, fanbelt, and spark plugs all light up and there’s even an authentic revving sound. The finished version can be displayed on a stand.
Designed for young engineers aged 10 and over, the completed powerplant can be registered online at a dedicated section of the Haynes website at www.haynes.com. A certificate of authenticity downloaded to go with it.
