Our spies were in Fairbanks this week and stumbled upon an all-new BMW 6-Series convertible hiding behind a snow bank and taking a rest break from the rigorous cold weather testing.
Codenamed E64, the all-new 6-Series cabrio will likely be powered by a range of engines including a 325-hp 4.4-liter V-8 and a 225-hp 3.0-liter six. We also expect the convertible to be equipped with a folding canvas top — power operated, of course. An updated and improved iDrive system, passive and active safety features borrowed from the new 5-Series sedan, and more passenger room than the Audi A4 Cabriolet and Mercedes CLK convertible round out the highlights. Pricing for the BMW 6-Series convertible is expected to start around $47,000 when they arrive next March in time for the 2005 model year.
