Why should I also consider these? X

The 2010 Toyota Land Cruiser is the real deal.

It has earned its reputation for durability and off-road prowess.

Accordingly, the Land Cruiser's closest rival is the even more storied Land Rover Range Rover, offering a similar package of off-road ability, on-road composure and a high feature set.

The Range Rover's luxury feel certainly outmatches the Land Cruiser's, and arguably offers a better value.

Mercedes-Benz's GL550 is another potential alternative, with more civilized handling and ride in town as a trade-off for slightly less off-road ability.

The GL550's third-row seating is a definite improvement over the Land Cruiser's jump seat arrangement.

Finally, there's Lexus's mechanically similar LX 570, which offers a more luxurious spec for a similar price to a fully equipped Land Cruiser, though it's not as well-suited to the off-road duty the Land Cruiser might see.

The Lexus dealership owner experience and the wide range of high-tech features might be worth the trade-off, however.
