Other Choices

Why should I also consider these? X

The Patriot is one of several vehicles that distinguishes itself based on boxy styling combined with very carlike driving attributes.

Subaru's Forester used to be the most direct rival to the Patriot, but the Subaru was redesigned and made larger for 2009.

The Ford Escape is more conservative-looking and has a high driving position that feels more like that of an SUV.

At the other end, there's the Scion xB, another city-friendly vehicle with an impressive set of features, but the xB's passenger space isn't quite as usable as that of the 2010 Jeep Patriot.

However, the Patriot's interior feels cheap and substandard compared to most of these rivals, with an excessive amount of drab, hard plastic.

The Mitsubishi Outlander feels a little sportier on the road and has a very small third-row seat available, but it also comes with inferior interior appointments.

Some shoppers might also want to check out the Honda Element, which is even taller and boxier and also caters to active, outdoorsy people.
