There are SUV alternatives that offer better on-road behavior than the H3.

The Toyota FJ Cruiser is styled almost as cartoonishly as the 2008 HUMMER H3 and has outward visibility that is just as stifled.

The FJ is almost as capable off the road, but a bit more civil on the pavement.

The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited comes close to matching the HUMMER H3's on-road feel while still nearly matching the H3 on trails.

More civilized and practical SUVs include the Toyota 4Runner that also offers V-8 power, and the Nissan Xterra that doesn't.
