If you don't have especially green expectations, you'll probably be happy with the 2012 Lexus ES 350; it gets EPA ratings of 19 mpg city, 28 highway, which are pretty typical for this class.

Actually, the ES 350 is more fuel-efficient than most larger V-6 sedan alternatives, and Lexus has lifted the requirement for premium fuel. But you could do better if going green is the top priority; the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, for instance, offers an interior nearly as large and luxurious, with fuel economy ratings that top 40 mpg; and the Lexus HS 250h, while not all that roomy inside, gets much better mileage.

Conclusion

Unless you're willing to step up to a hybrid, the 2012 Lexus ES 350 is one of the more efficient large-sedan picks.

How does the
TCC Rating work?
The TCC Rating is a clear numeric rating value based on a 10-point scale that reflects the overall opinion of our automotive experts on any vehicle and rolls up ratings we give each vehicle across sub-categories you care about like performance, safety, styling and more.

Our rating also has simple color-coded “Stop” (red), “Caution” (orange),
or “Go” (green) messages along with the numerical score so you can easily understand where we stand at a glance.

Our automotive experts then also collect and show you what other websites say about these different aspects of any vehicle. We do this leg work for you to simplify your research process.
