Audi’s 2009 Q5 crossover earns five stars in all ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) names it a Top Safety Pick.

“The field of view is commanding,” says Edmunds, “obstructed only by the outside rearview mirrors.”

Safety features abound on the Q5. ConsumerGuide lists “ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain side airbags, and front and rear side airbags” as available safety options.

“I particularly loved the rearview camera in the Q5,” says the MotherProof reviewer. “Not only does it have a great image, but it superimposes guide lines on the image to show your current path of travel. Never has it been so easy to tell if you are going to make it into that tight parking spot.”

Conclusion

The 2009 Audi Q5 ranks among the best SUVs for crash safety.

How does the
TCC Rating work?
The TCC Rating is a clear numeric rating value based on a 10-point scale that reflects the overall opinion of our automotive experts on any vehicle and rolls up ratings we give each vehicle across sub-categories you care about like performance, safety, styling and more.

Our rating also has simple color-coded “Stop” (red), “Caution” (orange),
or “Go” (green) messages along with the numerical score so you can easily understand where we stand at a glance.

Our automotive experts then also collect and show you what other websites say about these different aspects of any vehicle. We do this leg work for you to simplify your research process.
