22/28 (FWD, 4-cyl); 21/27 (4WD 4-cyl); 19/27 (FWD V-6); 19/26 (4WD V-6)
The 2012 Toyota RAV4 is a reasonably fuel-efficient pick, with EPA ratings as good as 22 mpg city, 28 highway with the four-cylinder engine. On the other hand, if you choose the V-6, and opt for four-wheel drive, ratings drop to 19/26.

The 2012 Toyota RAV4 is relatively fuel-efficient, but it's not much greener than the larger Highlander.
