Pay attention to the window sticker on the
2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid, and you just might be sold on this very fuel-efficient, affordable, high-tech sedan before even getting in for a test drive.
Toyota has given the 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid a high-value price, slotting between the base four-cylinder Camry and the V-6 variants. Unless you pile on the options, the Camry Hybrid can be had for less than $30,000—undercutting the Ford Fusion Hybrid's base (2011) price.
Then there are the Camry Hybrid's EPA fuel economy numbers: a seemingly incredible 43 mpg in the city, 39 highway for the Camry Hybrid LE; that's better gas mileage, combined, than any other mid-size sedan, so if you're considering this vehicle for commuting or family use, any premium over the base-engine Camry is going to cancel out in savings at the pump within just a few years.
The 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid is something of a 'stealth' hybrid; there's very little from the outside—other than a Toyota badge on a blueish background, plus understated badging and special underbody fairings—to indicate you're driving a hybrid. Likewise, the Hybrid is up for family duty in much the same way as the other Camry models: The ride is soft and comfortable, there's enough backseat space for two (or even three) adults, and performance is competent but not exciting. About the only thing you do give up in the Hybrid is a little trunk space, and the folding rear seatbacks of the other Camry models—you do get a pass-through instead, though.
