2011 MINI Cooper Fuel Economy

Fuel Economy
Though it's no hybrid or economy car, the 2011 MINI Cooper manages a solid 29 mpg city and 37 mpg highway in manual trim according to the EPA, while the automatic rates 28/36 mpg. The standard naturally-aspirated 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine remains zingy despite the relatively high efficiency marks. For the amount of fun packed into the MINI's chassis, it's a fairly remarkable figure.

The Cooper S, using its turbocharged 1.6-liter engine, scores similar figures despite generating 60 more horsepower at 181 horsepower total. At 27 mpg highway and 36 mpg city with the manual transmission, it's nearly as efficient as last year's base Cooper, and among the most efficient of any car offering this level of performance.  The automatic trails a bit at 26/34 mpg.
