Let’s just get this clear right off the bat. The 2010 Nissan Rogue offers more features, power and space than most small family SUVs on the market today. But instead of paying thousand more than you would ever want to for this capable commuter/family hauler, a well equipped Rogue S model still starts at just over $20,000. This includes ABS, power windows, power door locks, air conditioning, remote keyless entry, cruise control and a decent four speaker AM/FM CD Player with aux-input jack.
No way around it, the 2010 Nissan Rogue is a bargain hunters dream. But what if you like the styling of the 2010 Rogue yet desire all-wheel drive and would like to “Pimp Your Ride” a little bit? Well, if you are extroverted and love your wheels big, brash and chrome covered then Nissan has the Rogue for you and it is called the Krom Edition!
All Rogue models, including the top-level Krom Edition that I tested, come standard with a 2.5 liter 170 horsepower/175 lb. feet of torque 4 cylinder engine that returns 22 city/27 highway (2wd variant). All Rogues also come standard with a CVT (continuously variable transmission) that is well matched to this four cylinder engine.
To be honest, many CVT transmissions have a tendency to make an odd “mooing” sound when under load and going uphill. To test if the 2010 Nissan Rogue would be yet another vehicle with CVT transmission to fail my “cow test,” I took the nimble handling SUV up a scenic road called Top of the World in Laguna Beach, California. Thankfully, when I rolled down the windows all I could hear was the sound of the Pacific Ocean.
The 2010 Nissan Rogue Krom Edition comes standard with a unique to the model center mounted sports exhaust outlet, a revised chrome grille and more aggressive foglamps, tinted glass, a rear spoiler, steering wheel mounted audio controls and the aforementioned 17” chromed alloy wheels.
