The Aura is a mid-size sedan with both luxury and sport touches that Saturn hopes will draw in buyers who are also considering models like Honda's Accord and the Toyota Camry, among other benchmark vehicles in this class.
Saturn has expanded the Aura lineup in its second model year by adding a four-cylinder version. The new base XE sports a 2.4-liter dual overhead cam four-cylinder engine. The XE can also be outfitted with a 3.5-liter V-6 with 224 horsepower. Both these versions come with a four-speed automatic.
The luxury-sport XR comes with a 3.6-liter V-6 rated at 252 horsepower; it is teamed with Saturn's first-ever six-speed automatic transmission. The Aura XR also comes standard with 18-inch wheels in lieu of the base model's standard 17-inch rims.
The Aura Green Line, a 2.4-liter Ecotec-based hybrid first introduced in the 2007 model year, returns for the 2008 model year. GM’s pitching the Green Line as a less expensive hybrid.
All versions of the Aura are front-wheel-drive. Front seat side-impact and full-row curtain airbags and anti-lock brakes are standard on all trim levels.
