Ford says it’s going to produce a run of Expeditions modified by hip-hop DJ Funkmaster Flex.

A concept version of the newest Expedition was developed last year in Dearborn, with the artist giving his input to create a themed sport-ute with a “unique urban style and presence,” Ford says. The resulting concept is heading to showrooms as the 2008 Ford Expedition Funkmaster Flex edition.

“Once Ford and I finished the concept Expedition, we knew we had something serious! It was poppin’!” Funkmaster Flex said in a release. “We then started showing it at auto shows, to dealers and to my fans and realized we hit on some themes that we could turn into a limited-edition production ride.”

The limited edition SUV arrives in showrooms this fall with a raft of modifications and new trim, including:

  • A 3d Carbon body kit with a new front and rear end treatment, along with side skirts;
  • Two-tone Black and Colorado Red paint with Orange pinstripes;
  • Sirius satellite radio;
  • A black leather interior with red contrast stitching;
  • Funkmaster Flex “FMF” badging on the seats;
  • Second-row captain’s chairs;
  • And 20-inch chrome-clad aluminum wheels.

Why should I also consider these? X

Gas prices...gas prices, moan, complain...woe are we.

This is a good time to ask yourself whether you really need a full-size, truck-based SUV.

Well, do you? Do you need to tow more than three tons? Do you need a maximum payload of over 1,500 pounds? If you answered no to these questions, they why are you even thinking of wasting this truck's capabilities on commuting or people-hauling? There are less costly and more efficient vehicles out there for those jobs, including crossovers, minivans, and even the 2009 Ford Flex (we don't know what to call that vehicle yet).
