The full-size Navigator luxury SUV is new for 2007, with both a standard and long-wheelbase L version that is 14.7 inches longer than the standard model and has 25 cubic feet more storage capacity (42.7 cubic feet. vs. 18.2 cubic feet). With both the second- and third-row seats folded, the standard '07 Navigator boasts 103.5 cubic feet of cargo space, while the L model ups that to a cavernous 128.2 cubic feet. The '07 Navigator's exterior styling and interior layouts are clean sheet, as is the fully independent suspension, which is based on a double-wishbone, short- and long-arm, (SLA) design with coil-over shocks and a multi-link design with coil-over shocks for the rear. Eighteen-inch wheels are standard, with 20-inch wheels available optionally. Both versions of the '07 Navigator are powered by the same 300-horsepower, 5.4-liter V-8 used in the Mark LT, but in the new Navigator, this engine is teamed up with a six-speed automatic transmission. Rear- and four-wheel-drive versions are available, as before. Max tow rating is a very impressive 9,100 pounds. Optional equipment includes a 600-watt THX premium audio system with 14 speakers, MP3 capability and Sirius satellite radio, along with a rear-seat DVD entertainment system with an eight-inch screen and wireless headphones. Stability and traction control are standard, as are three-row curtain airbags and seat-mounted side-impact airbags for the first row.
