A new Altima bows for '07 with a sleek new body that rides
on a shortened (by one inch over the previous model) wheelbase and a
270-horsepower version of Nissan's well-regarded 3.5-liter DOHC V-6. This
represents a new high water mark for the Altima, power-wise. Also, the V-6
engine is still available with a six-speed manual transmission, in contrast to
the '07 Maxima, which now comes only with a CVT. As such, the '07 Altima may be
considered the sportier of the two models despite the Maxima's storied
reputation. Standard versions of the Altima will be powered, as before, by a
